Our Students Need Playground Equipment for Recess!

Help me give my students equipment to use during recess, as they've used all of their chalk, and many of the basketballs and kickballs are deflated and no longer hold air due to the tough MN recess weather.

My Project

Our elementary students are outside for 20 minutes every day for recess. Playing encourages learning how to share, negotiate, take turns, and sportsmanship.

I have requested basketballs, kickballs, and chalk so students are engaged and don't wander during their recess time.

These resources give students the tools needed to initiate play if they choose not to go on the playground equipment. It also spreads students out.

Children will opt to play in different areas that best fit the equipment. When students disperse, they deepen relationships while playing in smaller groups.

Equipment that is broken (or gone) may be used briefly by students, but they eventually tire of its non-function and move on to something else - which increases wandering. Wandering delays play time and doesn't allow students to enjoy their short time outside.

Recess and playground equipment should be clean, functional, and useful. Currently (due to wear and tear from being used outdoors), the recess equipment is no longer functional or completely gone.

Providing our students with these playground resources will increase activity and engagement during students' free play time.
