Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are incredibly physically and socially intelligent elementary schoolers. Much of them come from communities that have not been given opportunities to grow, my students possess a tenacity and creativity that comes only from limited opportunities being presented to you on a platter.

Our physical education class is much more than learning how to jump or run.

It is about honoring your body, your mind, and your total self. My students keep these values in mind, making it super easy to throw any activity at them. They take it on with no hesitation and lots of excitement!

My Project

Much of team-building, patience, and self-determination comes from playing sports with one's peers. In addition, playing a multiplicity of sports is important in developing coordination, mental flexibility, and muscle control.

Given the shift the world has experienced in these past two years, many of my students have not been given the opportunity to express themselves through athletics.

For example, soccer is one sport that places much emphasis on collaboration as well as self-development. Therefore, the attainment of a basketball hoop, sports nets, and sports balls will give my students the opportunity to become not just budding athletes, but creative, dynamic thinkers.

This project will directly impact historically underfunded classrooms.
