Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

We participate in the Accelerated Reader program and the students get to choose their own books to read each day.

This school year began with a challenge to my students to read more non-fiction books.

My students have done an amazing job so far in rising to this challenge. The titles we are requesting are predominantly non-fiction and highly requested by my students. I would love to see them continue enjoying reading non-fiction and learning content as they read each day. My students are asking for more books in the, "Who Would Win," series, the "The World of Weird Animals," and the "Magic Tree House" series which are both non-fiction. They would be able to read these books at home or during silent reading time, take a quiz and earn credit towards meeting their reading goals in the Accelerated Reader program.

We are also requesting stickers, which are highly motivating incentives, for students to choose from when they complete books. The last items we are requesting are clear sheet protectors to protect our reading logs as they travel between home and school.
