Our Middle School Band: Rebuilding with the Basics

Help me give my students access to basic necessities needed to become AMAZING musicians. Items such as reeds for woodwinds, valve oil/slide cream for brass, and sticks to teach percussion are just a few of our needs!

Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Project

In August of 2022, the our middle school band began rebuilding its storied band and orchestra program. Like many fine arts programs, this one is in the middle of an ongoing reset. Needs for the program range from instruments, music literature, chairs, stands, and carpet for the band room. Needless to say, 2022-23 saw a resurgence in band culture throughout our school. Our students have pushed through to reset the band culture in our school. Our students perform with PRIDE whether it's a PBIS event, Fine Arts Concerts, Solo and Ensemble Evaluations, Large Group Performance Evaluation, and soon, All-District and All-State auditions. We can truly say that our program is building on a solid foundation that was reset during the 2022-23 school year.

Now that the foundation is set, we have to build the walls.

Our school is a Title I school. Simply put, programs like ours likely will fold if not for Title I funding and support from friends like you. There's an ongoing fight to make sure our students have instruments to use in the classroom as well as in performances. With that comes the fight of providing the resources to even play the instruments. Items like reeds (woodwinds), valve oil (brass), and drumsticks are needed to sustain the learning as well as the AMAZING performances by our students.

I am asking for your support to help to make our students' learning experiences transform into continued success in performances that will lead to memories for students that will last for a lifetime. However you choose to partner with us will be greatly appreciated.

We're excited about what's next at our school and the partnership with you will help us "Strive to be the best middle school band in the world!"
