Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
Our autistic and cognitively/communication impaired classes do a wide variety of life skill(s) activities during the school year. In June, we are turning our classroom into a restaurant setting! We are serving a homemade savory waffle (stuffed with turkey bacon, cheddar cheese, scallions and herbs) to the staff, administration, custodians, and security. In addition we are making a great salad and homemade strawberry ice cream. The students prepare all food (ice cream we make a few days before), serve/interact with the staff, decorate the tables, and clean-up. This is a great learning experience for them after all their work and visits to various businesses and organizations in Trenton. We are requesting donations for our food purchases and the teachers involved will split the costs of paper products.
More than half of students from low‑income households
