Our GATE Program

My students need at least one iPad to use for our Gifted and Talented Education Program's school wide improvement projects.

My Students

Our students have created several groups to help our school become a better place. We have: Media and Production, Campus Safety & Beautification, Student Court, Peer Tutoring, Recycling and more. We would like a portable device that can be used as a central location for all our records.

The students in this group are predominantly, but not limited to the gifted population of our school (roughly 20% of the student body).

The students are highly creative, possess superior logical reasoning abilities, and are extremely high level readers. As their teacher, I wish to provide them with the best technology available. Our current budget does not allow for the funds to purchase this iPad.

My Project

The iPad will definitely change the way our GATE students work on their projects. For our Student Court group, we will use it to document our court proceedings. Our "GATE Incorporated" group supports the whole program through fund-raising efforts. With an iPad, they can create and keep track of a budget, do marketing and publicity through the various apps. The Events Planning group can maintain a master calendar for all events and festivals. All groups will be able to avail themselves of quick Internet access, photo and video ability, plus all of the other resources an iPad offers.

We actually need about 10 iPads, for all 10 groups, and really need an iPad per student!

But, for now, but, it is of course too much to ask. I hope even this one iPad will lead to our better fundraising ability, so that we will be able to buy more iPads (and other technology and resources) with our own budget in the future.
