Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Our students have every disadvantage imaginable. Even though we are located in the poorest area in the United States, I’m amazed at how our students persevere. Students come to school to receive a hot meal and shelter. We put in every ounce of effort to meet their specific needs.
Although students face many obstacles, our main goal is to have our students continue to expand their education by providing individualized learning opportunities.
We set goals together and challenge them to meet and surpass those goals in order to become productive citizens in their school community.
Many students do not have supplies. This program gives children from all cultures, areas, and various incomes an opportunity to learn and thrive within the district. My energetic students enter the classroom ready to learn, discover, and explore.
My Project
Teaching financial literacy to young children is a complicated task. Imagine, this is a low socioeconomic school where the majority gets free lunch, many are unable, financially, to pay for many items. Even with being limited financially, all my students have an eagerness for learning. Distance Learning has broadened our classroom goals for taking our class into the 21st century through creative problem solving, in spite of our financial limitations. The Samsung 58'' Smart TV will increase student led instruction through the use of technology giving students the ability to share work instantaneously and receive immediate feedback from the class. We will have immediate access to actual banking information, and through the use of mirroring functions, the class will be able to move between different source materials fluidly giving them access to real world financial literacy experiences.
By donating to our class project, you will help foster collaboration and strengthen financial academic skills with the use of mirroring and smart functions of a modern television.
You will also help reach learners at all levels and increase student attention by providing opportunities for a modern classroom by giving them access to tools that help break away from a traditional class setting and learning environment. Students will be able to simply focus on the academic material at hand, and not whether their materials are going to work or not. In addition, any interaction with updated technology will increase their literacy as well as their desire to learn and use the new technology!
