My students need 2 cassette player listening stations to help them listen to reading during Daily 5.

Do you remember what it was like the first time you heard a good book read aloud to you? Many of my students do not yet have "memories" of someone reading a book aloud to them. Help me, help make these memories for them!
I teach at a large public school located right outside of New Orleans.
I teach a total of 60 students a day, and no two students are alike. Many of our students do not have strong literacy support at home so it's important that at school they get that support. No matter what is going on in my kids lives they always come to school ready to learn about reading!
The addition of a listen center to my classroom will be so valuable to my students. I teach reading and writing using a program called Daily 5. One of the essential components is listening to reading. Of course, my students hear me read aloud on a daily basis but they would greatly benefit from a listening center for several reasons. It will allow them to listen independently and to follow along with the readers. Many of my students have trouble with fluency simply because they never had anyone read aloud to them. They are really developing a love for reading this year. They already read to themselves and enjoy reading to each other. It has been proven that listening to reading is a crucial element in improving a students overall reading ability.
Your donation will have a huge impact on my students this year and for years to come.
Their reading skills will benefit daily when they can listen to reading. It will also show them that people outside of our school realize and value the importance of being good readers.
