Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are in an I.C.T. classroom in the Bronx. In this classroom setting both general education students and special education students learn together and from each other. Many of my students have learning disabilities or speech and language impairments.
My students are faced with hardships every day.
Yet, they come to school eager to learn. Despite obstacles put in their way, my students strive to reach their potential. School is their safe haven where I strive to provide them with all the knowledge I can with the resources that are available to me.
My Project
Our classroom has no printer. This limits the way I plan lessons, teach, and present student work. A printer would help our classroom in so many ways! I am currently unable to print articles on multiple levels of differentiation for my students. This limits access to different materials for my students on varying levels. This printer would allow me to print out reading materials about the same topic on different levels so that all of my students have access to learning curriculum. Also, during a lesson, if I see that one of my students needs different work or different paper for his or her writing, I am unable to print it at that moment for my student. This would allow me to assess my students' capabilities and give them access to the learning materials that they need on demand. I could print different writing papers, various math manipulatives, or an article on a topic of individual students' interests. Being able to print these resources will motivate my students to work harder because they will always have the materials that they need to learn and grow. Having a printer in our classroom would make a world of difference for my students with special needs!
