This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
As a teacher in a low-income and high poverty school district, I want to provide my 26 students with many learning opportunities. Our school is a public school that houses grades first through eighth, right outside of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. We are located in a Title I school and 100% of the students will receive free breakfast and lunch. My students thrive when give attention and positive reinforcement. They are energetic, curious, and motivated to learn and soak up all the information surrounding them.
My Project
Motivating young readers is an important job. It takes exposing young minds to different genres through reading books aloud and creating a classroom library that excites everyone. Funding this project will help build our classroom library and foster the love of reading. This project includes classics, fiction, and nonfiction. Some of the nonfiction books included relate to content being taught during Social Studies and Science. I also included series of books that I know my students enjoy reading. Also, many of my students do not have access to books at home. I will allow my students to check out books from our classroom library so they can enjoy reading at home.
DonorsChoose is the most trusted classroom funding site for teachers.
