Help me give my students a few things that make our classroom atmosphere a better learning environment; headphones so our room is less distracting, and chair pockets so we have room to store our things.
I teach an amazing group of 4th grade students. My students are hardworking and get very excited when working with technology, doing any hands on projects. Our class has students with varied needs. In each content area I have a group of high students who need extra higher level activities to help them meet their needs, a group of lower students who need additional help and appropriate activities, and I have 4 students with special needs who also need ways to meet their learning needs at their own level. The students work well together and do an excellent job at helping one another to attain their potential.
Our school has a modified traditional schedule; this means I get half of my students for the 1st hour of the day, then all of the students for the bulk of the day, finally 2nd half for the last hour of the day.
This schedule provides opportunity to work with kids in smaller groups. This small group time helps me to meet more of the students individual needs.
I love that my students are respectful, kind, hardworking, and they appreciate the opportunities provided to them.
My Project
When students are distracted they have a difficult time focusing on their learning. Headphones give a way for students to engage in the software they are working with without disrupting the students around them. Similarly, when students have too many items in or on their desks they can become distracted or side tracked.
Minimization of distractions in the classroom enables a higher level of learning to occur.
Supporting our classroom project will enable these amazing kids to work in conditions that will enhance their learning.
Using technology is something that students will have to be able to do in and out of school. Having an environment that enables the use of technology in classroom helps students to be better prepared for life and their jobs in the future.
