Our Classroom Boom Box Has Died -- Ha Muerto

My students need this Sony boom box, headphones, and speakers for global listening activities and assessments in our Spanish class.

My Students

As a proud alumna of this flagship school in our community, I know first hand the legacy of academic excellence and athletic ability. This is a large urban high school and my students come from every walk of life. They are diverse in interests, ethnicity, socioeconomic background, and religion.

My students are driven to achieve academic success in my classroom and beyond.

I hope to obtain the literary resources to provide them with the best second language course to met that objective. Go Pirates!

My Project

Our classroom boom box has died over the summer and no longer plays audio CDs. ¡Socorro! Last school year we used the boom box daily to play the audio CDs that accompany the textbook, as well as listen to Spanish music. The audio CDs host various activities that allow my students to practice and over time develop the necessary global listening skills to understand spoken Spanish. Students absorb language through simply listening and without the daily listening interaction my students will have a harder time processing and progressing in their language development.

Having a full functioning boom box allows my whole class the ability to clearly hear native Spanish speakers via authentic music, conversation, scenarios, and pronunciation drills.

The Bluetooth upgrade in the boom box will allow for more modern and diverse music selections as well as increased access to internet audio activities. Yah! The headphones will allow individualized learning opportunities for students who need extra time or who miss an assignment. The batteries will allow me to position the new boom box where it is most efficient and not be limited to the locations of wall outlets. The additional Bluetooth capable speakers will create a 'surround sound' environment for the audio activities played from the boom box to ensure every student can amply hear regardless of their seating.
