We are ready to try out our "green thumbs!!!" As third graders in North Carolina, students are required to learn how a plant grows, what a plant needs to survive, and the parts of a plant. We are currently studying these things by using our science books and AIMS based classroom activities and observations. Many of my students do not know what it is like to have ever planted a flower and have the opportunity to watch it grow. I would LOVE for them to have that chance here at school. I am requesting this grant for potting soil to cover the area for our flowerbed, the flowers to plant in that area, and enough pine needles to cover the area, as well. Please help my third graders experience the growth of a plant firsthand. Thanking you in advance!
