The instruments give them real life experiences similar to what professional musicians have to work through, in developing teamwork, communication skills, and beginning musicianship skills to perform at higher and higher levels of proficiency. The classroom supplies assist us in maintaining a clean and safe environment where we can focus on learning and building knowledge and skills. Students are enjoying using the new instruments and supplies each day. Thank you for your kind contribution to our music classroom.\r\n\r\nThey were delighted with the new instruments and talked about how damaged the old ones were. They asked to play all of them that day, and wondered when they might be able to play all of them again. Currently we are using them to help with learning music notation on the music staff --- one of our state required objectives and goals for developing musicianship. The color coded boomwackers help them visually distinguish between different pitches and scale degrees. \r\n\r\nAs we work through this unit, we will become more and more proficient at reading music and preparing for middle school music elective courses. Our little ones will use them as a pre-reading exercise that give immediate satisfaction with playing music and working together as a team. Thank you for your kind generosity in helping us purchase these much needed (and much loved) instruments and supplies.","fullyFundedDate":1760693780859,"projectUrl":"project/gibson-grizzlies-need-music-room-supplie/9540621/","projectTitle":"Gibson Grizzlies Need Music Room Supplies!","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Haight","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/272x272/tp2005192_272x272.jpg?width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1481490120595","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/khaight"},{"teacherId":9503490,"projectId":9759126,"letterContent":"My students were excited to hear we got working headphones. The ones that I had in my classroom would work sometimes, and sometimes they wouldn't students would complain. They wouldn't be able to hear very well and the prior headphones, and I haven't had a single student complain about being able to hear in these!\r\n\r\nMy students are very thankful for your contribution to our classroom, and helping their educational growth through being able to hear through their headphones. Some students require read aloud for testing, and learning in general. Those students are able to hear read aloud again! What a difference these new materials have made! The day our math and science toys arrived, my students' eyes grew wide with excitement. They couldn't wait to touch, build, and explore everything. There were gasps, giggles, and so many \"Look at this!\" moments as they discovered what each new tool could do.\r\n\r\nSince then, our classroom has turned into a space full of curious thinkers and problem-solvers. The magnet sets have become a class favorite; students love experimenting with how the pieces connect and testing how tall they can build before it tips. The marble run sparks endless creativity and teamwork as they design paths and time how long it takes for the marble to reach the end. Our scientific viewers have turned everyday objects into amazing discoveries.\r\n\r\nWhat's been most special is watching my students become more confident as they explore and figure things out on their own. They're learning to ask questions, make predictions, and celebrate mistakes as part of the learning process, something that's been so beautiful to see.\r\n\r\nNext, we'll be using these materials to explore push, pull, and motion in our next science unit. My students are already making predictions about what might happen when we start testing the force of different marble run designs!\r\n\r\nThank you from the bottom of my heart for giving my students the chance to learn in such a joyful, hands-on way. Students immediately gathered around, pointing out the tiny details and discussing which pieces belonged in which rooms. During dramatic play, I watched them create entire stories together — families eating dinner, friends visiting each other's homes, and even problem-solving when \"someone spilled juice on the floor.\" These resources have opened up new opportunities for collaboration, language development, and creativity in ways that weren't possible before.\r\n\r\nOne memorable moment was when a group of students recreated our own classroom community inside the dollhouse. They gave each doll a \"job\" — teacher, student, and helper — and worked together to build routines, showing how much they've learned about roles and relationships.\r\n\r\nAs we move forward, we'll be connecting dramatic play to our literacy lessons. Students will use the dollhouse to act out stories we read aloud, helping them strengthen comprehension and sequencing skills.
