My Students
Our school is focused on the whole child, including developing partnerships with families and the community. We seek to provide equity through excellent instruction, innovative practices, and a full inclusion model.
Our third grade class is comprised of 24 amazing students, many of whom come from a traditionally underserved Latino community in the heart of Los Angeles.
Our students experience a calm classroom environment with flexible seating, natural lighting, and lots of cozy spaces. We follow student-centered frameworks, including reading and writing workshop, balanced math from a CGI perspective, mindfulness, and conflict-resolution skills. Our students truly love coming to school each day and are excited to take charge of their learning.
My Project
Our third graders LOVE to read, and for many of them the classroom library is the only place they have access to books. Students can check books out of our classroom library and take them home, in addition to the books they read in class.
This year, the readers in our classroom are reading at an incredible range of levels - requiring a LOT of books that span many grade levels.
We have run out of room on our current bookshelves and are in need of a few more shelves so that everyone can find what they need in our classroom library.
