This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I am the school librarian for over 600 creative and expressive elementary students. We are inventive, inquisitive, and creative - we take advantage of every aspect of the library, from the maker space, drawing and writing lab, to escaping into our books.

The students love what the library provides and deserve more!

Many of the students have dabbled in robotics, coding, and other STEAM projects and have expressed a great interest in learning more.

My Project

With STEAM being ever-popular in the realm of college and career readiness, it is imperative to provide all the opportunities available to make them ever ready for a tech world. Giving students opportunities with items that inspire inquiry, open-ended learning environments, and, most importantly, fun, will pay back in dividends later in their academic careers.

These Osmos will allow my students to create, problem-solve, and unlock new talents in robotics and coding.

With public libraries changing to meet the needs of their patrons, offering a myriad of activities beyond books, so should school libraries. Libraries should be places of comfort, innovation, brainstorming, creativity, and positivity. However, if students never get to experience what libraries have to offer, they might not understand the libraries' value as adults. Help me create those amazing experiences for these students.
