My Project

Orton-Gillingham is a research-based training that has not only improved my teaching but also has given me the confidence to feel that I'm meeting all of my students' needs. I have attended the initial training (Comprehensive Plus for grades K-3). However, this training is a non-district incentive, and I'm not able to receive funding through my district to attend the Morphology Plus training that is for upper elementary students. This program will allow me to provide all of my students with systematic, explicit, rigorous instruction that promotes literacy instruction at all reading levels. After receiving the training, I will have access to online materials and resources that my current and future students will be able to use. After this training, I will:

1) Gain knowledge about the Science of Reading and the History of the English language

2) Gain knowledge about students with reading difficulties including dyslexia

3) Understand how EL students can cognate to help learn English

4) Administer various types of assessments

5) Implement and create structured literacy lessons on morphology, vocabulary, fluency, and comprehension
