Organizing The Art Room

Help me give my students the gift of storage. The storage caddy, book bins, and paper organizer baskets will make my students lives much easier and efficient. This will allow my students to work on projects faster.

My Students

My students are amazingly creative young people within a rural low-income community. I teach 10-13 year olds who have had little to no previous art experience. Most of the students at my school come from low-income homes. Within my class,​ my students strive to learn new things in art and become excited for each new lesson. My students from a tiny community in North Carolina take pride in all that they do and are eager this year to compete in art shows for the very first time.

We have currently been out of school due to hurricane Florence for three weeks.

I miss my students greatly and am ready to get back on to the road to recovery. It is going to be a long road as I have been told that there have been damages to the community and the school itself. The day before we let out for the hurricane my students ran up and gave me a big group hug because they were worried they may not see me for a while. It breaks my heart to know that some of these same students lost a lot and I want to help them recover.

My Project

My Art classroom needs some organizational help. I have magazines just piled onto bookshelves, my art material bins are plastic cups in baskets that are falling apart​. I have nowhere for my students to put their art journals/sketchbooks. This all causes some serious frustration for my 5th, 6th, 7th, and 8th graders. I often find things piled into my desks as they do not know where to put supplies because there is no defined place for everything at this time. Please help me organize my room for my sanity and my students!

My school has been closed for the last 3 weeks and we still do not have a definite date to return as of yet due to hurricane Florence, we do know that our school has suffered damages and much of the community has suffered damages.

When my students come back I want to give them a clean, safe, and organized environment that is conducive to their learning. I want to work on helping my students learn, grow, and heal rather than worry about the trivial issue of where the colored pencils go.
