I teach Art at a Title I school in North Carolina. Almost all of my students are from families below the poverty line. Many of my parents would like to help with Classroom materials, but are unable to do so. We were hit hard by hurricane Florence and spent almost a month out of school and the art room sustained water damage. My students are some of the most creative young people I have ever met. They strive to create and enjoy new experiences in Art. I use my Classroom as an Avenue to not only teach art but create different learning experiences in relation to Art. Before I came to this Classroom my students had not had an Art teacher for a year. They had a substitute that relied heavily on book work. Many of the art supplies were missing or destroyed and I have been trying since taking over the Classroom to get supplies for my students so that they can have immersive learning experiences.
