My Students

Help us get more organized! Our classroom has 25 students and is growing, and we need help keeping all of our materials organized. An organized classroom allows more time for learning, and less time trying to find a place for our things!

The students in my classroom are a very diverse bunch representing a variety of countries and cultures.

More than half of my students are English Language Learners and even more of my students come from families who fall below the poverty line. However, they are all very hard workers and an absolutely Wonderful group of kids. We have little-to-no extra resources available to us, so anything and everything is greatly appreciated!

My Project

I have requested a variety of organizational materials for my 2nd grade classroom!We need sturdy book bins in which to keep our workbooks and folders. Every year, I have to purchase cardboard book bins for my students and many of them hardly make it through the year! They often rip, or lose their sturdiness - which gets expensive! Since we are using tables instead of desks, organization is key, and I need a reliable place to put all of my students' things. I have also requested a mail center for our classroom and one for my desk. Between passing out papers and packing up, the end of the day can be time-consuming for 2nd graders. If we had a mail center, where students could quickly grab their assignments, homework, and letters home, our afternoons would take much less time, hence allowing more time in the day for learning. We also need more labels for our classroom. I always tell my kids that everything has a place, and if it is clearly labeled, they'll know where that place is.

Organization is the key to success!

Donations to this project will make a difference because it will create a more organized classroom environment, where we can move from one activity to another, without wasting precious learning time. I purposely requested materials that are very durable so that they will be used by future learners, and will reduce the amount of out-of-pocket spending I have to do each year.
