it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
In our Title I elementary special education classroom, structure and calm are key components of student success. Many of our students have individualized learning needs that require both academic support and a thoughtfully organized environment. To create a space that promotes focus, independence, and comfort, we need some foundational materials to better serve them.
These tools may seem simple, but they are essential for building a classroom that supports executive functioning, minimizes distractions, and respects students’ sensory needs.
Students will use binders and sheet protectors to organize their work, access individualized visual schedules, and keep important resources intact throughout the school year. A heavy-duty stapler and staple removers will support classroom routines and help maintain our take-home folders and student work portfolios. A dependable pencil sharpener ensures students are always ready to write without delays or frustration. Magnet clips will allow us to display student work and reminders in visible and accessible areas, reinforcing routines and celebrating accomplishments. Finally, soft fluorescent light covers will reduce the harshness of classroom lighting and create a calmer, sensory-friendly learning environment that helps students stay regulated and focused.
