Organized Explorers: Hands-On Science & Social Studies for 3rd Grade

Help me give my students organized storage, hands-on materials, and classroom tools to support our science and social studies investigations. These supplies will help 40 students stay engaged, prepared, and ready to explore big ideas.

My Project

My 3rd graders are curious, energetic learners who love exploring how the world works. In science, they investigate weather patterns, ecosystems, forces, and space. In social studies, they learn about communities, geography, cultures, and how people work together. To help all 40 of my students stay organized, engaged, and ready to learn, our classroom needs materials that support hands-on exploration and smooth daily routines.

This project will provide large storage bins, pencils, sticky notes, glue, cardstock, fabric, air fresheners, and a portable podium.

These items may seem simple, but they make a powerful difference in how effectively students learn. The large storage bins will allow us to create labeled investigation kits for weather tools, magnets, rocks and minerals, maps, and cultural artifacts. When materials are organized and easy to access, students—especially slow-paced learners—can transition smoothly and work independently.

The pre-sharpened pencils ensure students always have what they need to write observations, complete maps, and record data. Sticky notes help students track vocabulary, make predictions, and share quick reflections during lessons. Glue, cardstock, and fabric support hands-on projects such as dioramas, posters, timelines, and model-building, which deepen understanding and make learning memorable.

The portable podium will be used for demonstrations, read-alouds, and student presentations, helping build confidence and communication skills. The air fresheners help maintain a clean, welcoming classroom environment where students feel comfortable and ready to learn.

These materials will help us stay organized, work collaboratively, and build meaningful projects that show deep understanding. Thank you for helping our classroom grow.
