My Project

The current school year is quickly wrapping up, and it is time to start planning for the upcoming year! I teach two different grades; both fifth and sixth grade. I always forget just how much my sixth graders grow physically each school year from the beginning of the year versus the end of each year. By the end of the school year, many of my sixth graders are taller than I am and many are close to average adult size. Making enough room for 24-28 adult-sized students becomes more of a challenge every year.

I know it is time to downsize and reorganize the physical space in my room to meet the needs of my students.

This upcoming school year, our classrooms are getting a new floor make-over. This being said, we must pack all things to move out of the classroom over the summer. It is the perfect time to reassess my classroom space and open the perimeter of the classroom. I am letting go of a whole wall shelf unit to make room for more physical movement. But this means we must utilize the space under student tables for organization of our supplies and math books. I am requesting rolling carts that can easily be stored under each table group or can be rolled right against the tables. Not only will this free up the wall space in my classroom, allowing for tables to be spaced out, but it will also keep traffic flow to the minimum as we first enter the room. Please help my students to stay organized and prioritize as we pivot into the upcoming school year!
