My Students

As a first-year teacher, I am beyond excited at the opportunities I get to create every day to give my learners the best education possible! My students are a very enthusiastic group of five and six-year-olds that come from a variety of backgrounds. Our school is very diverse, with a high poverty/ELL population. I have a few students who attended preschool, and many who never had the opportunity. They all have one thing in common though, a desire to learn and explore!

It is often hard for my young students to keep their thoughts organized, not to mention keeping track of their materials!

I want to create a more systematic organized way for the my students to store and maintain their materials for reading and math. I am hopeful this project will allow me the opportunity to help my young learners be more independent and organized!

My Project

As a first year teacher I aspire to foster independence in all of my students no matter their age! Through this project I will be able to help create this essential trait in my students!

Students feel more empowered when they experience success in the activities they take on independently!

This storage unit will allow my students to pick and choose their materials independently during rotations. This is often achieved after direct modeling and practicing the procedure as a whole class. Through this project, my students will gain independence and I will increase my focus on my small group because of fewer management issues.
