I teach an imaginative class of first graders who love to learn and explore.
This is the time in their lives where reading and creating good learning habits will make the biggest footprint.
This project will help my first grade students to be more focused, engaged, organized and comfortable during independent work time.
We are a Title I school with more than half of our students receiving free or reduced price lunch. My school works very hard to provide the best opportunities to our students.
My Project
Help me give my students flexible seating to make our classroom a more comfortable place to learn.
I teach a diverse group of students at a schoolwide Title I building with 50% of the students receiving free or reduced lunches.
Many of my students and their families face daily economic and life challenges. Students often come to school tired or hungry. Despite this, the children are eager to learn and experience new things.
I want to create the best possible learning environment for my students.
With this idea in mind, I would like to provide flexible seating within the classroom to foster creativity, excitement and comfort.
All my first grade students strive to be focused learners within the classroom setting. That is often difficult to do when the classroom consists of hard plastic chairs and distractions. As learners we all know that to fully engage and learn a new skill or habit it is much easier to do if we are comfortable. That is why I am asking for help to bring flexible seating into my classroom.
The stools, floor chairs and rug will allow my young learners to be more comfortable while they learn.
Students will be able to place and sit on the flexible seating in locations around the classroom that helps support their individual learning.
