My Students

Imagine being 10 and 11 years old again with energy to last for days! It would be great to remember what that was like for most of us educators, but all students deserve the opportunity to succeed. The kids try to stay engaged in a room that could use some supplies to help them be organized and engaged in a meaningful way, on top of the daily struggles they have outside the walls of the school building.

Many of my students unique, energetic 5th graders who have diverse backgrounds and educational needs.

We are a high poverty school trying to make an impact in the lives of these children and let them know they always have someone that loves them and is there for them no matter what. My students come from a variety of backgrounds both culturally and economically. Over 100 children take food bags home for the weekend, and we serve free breakfast daily to all children in the building.

My Project

I’m asking for these three bookshelves for our classroom library so we can get our books organized. We have a classroom library that needs more storage and organization so we can grow our love of learning. We are out of room for the books we have as we built a library with high interest books that are engaging and popular. Organization is essential in helping kids choose books they will love and want to come back for more. After adding these book shelves I will be adding a cushioned top to make a flexible seating option for the kids as well.
