Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I teach in a middle school on the south side of OKC. My 7th graders are about to walk into their first day of middle school. If this crew is anything like last year, they'll be a rambunctious crew, eager to make their presence known in the classroom.
Being Oklahoma students, my kids have seen first hand the impact of poor funding in their classrooms.
I want them to be able to start middle school right, with a classroom that's as wonderful as they are.
My Project
How can we make sure to fill in the instructional gaps that students have developed through the years? How can we make sure that they retain the information taught them this year?
Access to clear and well-organized notes will allow students to retain information and succeed in their math goals this year.
Having binders will give them a place to keep up with notes to be able to use them as a resource throughout the room. Dividers will allow them to be organized by unit.
This year I have high goals for what my students can accomplish in math class. Being able to start the year strong will help us reach those goals.
