Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Third grade is a milestone for young learners. They become “upper” elementary students and I want to provide them with the best environment to foster the growth and love of learning.  

What I love most about my students is their resilience, curiosity, and the way they light up when learning feels like play.

Many of them thrive when given hands-on, engaging opportunities to practice skills, especially in reading and math. The materials I am requesting—laminating sheets, mesh pouches, cardstock, and other supplies—will allow me to create durable, reusable learning centers tailored to their needs. With laminated task cards and game boards, students can practice skills repeatedly without wear and tear, while mesh pouches will keep each activity organized and accessible for independent or small-group work.

These resources will be used to build interactive reading and math centers where students can strengthen foundational skills in a fun, meaningful way. For reading, I will create centers aligned to 3rd grade skills such as reading comprehension, identifying main idea and supporting details, understanding text structure, building vocabulary, and making inferences using short passages and task cards. Students will engage in activities like matching main ideas to details, sequencing events, and responding to text-dependent questions. In math, students will engage with hands-on games designed to reinforce number sense and build fact fluency, such as addition and multiplication matching, timed challenges, and partner games. By incorporating play-based learning, these centers will encourage repetition without boredom, helping students develop automaticity with key skills. Ultimately, these materials will transform practice into an engaging experience, giving my students the confidence and consistency they need to grow as readers and mathematicians.
