First grade has such an exciting group of students eager to learn and work towards independence. No longer in kindergarten, these students are ready to become "big kids" who are ready to read, write, and explore!
I teach at an elementary school with a high immigration population and many English Language Learners.
Our students are from various socioeconomic backgrounds and speak a plethora of different languages. We help students learn English and academic language, and the individualized programs provide additional support. Our goal is to prepare them for our technologically advanced world while providing tailored learning that helps them become successful scholars.
Our folders and supplies already have a home, but are affecting our organization and efficiency. During independent rotations, students are expected to work quietly and efficiently, but it's difficult to do so when their materials are on the other side of the room. It's also difficult when their cubbies become cluttered with work. They end up spending more time sifting through work than doing the actual work itself.
With these book bags, students will learn organization skills and be able to use their time wisely.
The storage bags will hang directly from their chairs so that they don't need to walk around looking for materials. Students will be able to focus on the task at hand without worrying about the distraction of walking back and forth.
