Students really enjoyed the characters and reading the book. With this novel I was able to focus on teaching empathy and teach social emotional skills. We worked on identifying the feelings of the main character, Catherine, and how she changes through the book. We learned a lot from the Rules that are listed in the book as well as the themes the author embedded within the novel.\r\nStudents also were excited to see that there was a new bookshelf in the classroom.
