This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
I can't find my homework! It was here a few minutes ago! This is a common complaint from my students. My students have been having trouble getting organized. Please help us.
My students are from low income, well-meaning homes.
They are really hard workers trying to overcome many obstacles in their lives. First, we are located in south Louisiana where the educational system is at the bottom of everything. This region has low testing scores and a small budget which makes it really tough for these students to succeed.
My Project
A binder for each student to keep work organized would be wonderful. This would help the student to be able to keep track of and locate materials readily. No more loose paper, homework written on the back of scrap sheets of paper, and most importantly, no searching through the desk for lost homework and assignments.
This project will teach students to organize themselves.
They will learn that organization is a key factor in becoming a successful student. This skill is useful throughout life. Many adults have trouble becoming organized because they were never taught how or just did not practice this skill.
