Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are English Language Learners who are eager to learn. They live in Seagoville, TX which is a suburb of Dallas. They are very sweet children and enjoy learning new topics. Our school serves students in grades Prek-5 and provides rigorous academics, excellent teachers and a safe learning environment.

My students are learning in an environment that needs organization for maximum learning to take place.

We don't have personal cubbies for storage, or shelves to keep our materials. Most of our classroom textbooks and journals are stored in recycled milk crates from our school cafeteria. All my students receive free lunch at our Title 1 school. Many of my students receive backpack food on the weekend as well. Despite these obstacles, I am certain that my students will succeed in school.

My Project

The materials and supplies that I'm requesting will help my students tremendously by helping with organization in our classroom. The seat covers I'm requesting will be used for storing student materials like individual whiteboards, individualized leveled books, spirals, and folders. We will also store manipulatives like styrofoam counters for hands-on math lessons. My students will be able to easily access the materials they need instead of wasting valuable time by calling each group to gather the materials needed. Hanging file folders will also help with organization of materials and papers.

Right now we are using milk crates to store our learning materials but the seat covers would eliminate wasted instructional time and aid in my classroom management.
