My Students

This year I will be working in a new school, WES, with a new grade level, kindergarten, which will be a big change to my prior experience with third graders. I would love to make my classroom a fun, positive, and hands-on learning environment for my kids as this is their first year of school!

In kindergarten, our students love to ask questions, show off their creative abilities, and have a general love for learning.

Each child has different abilities and goals, some with reading and writing and others with counting and number sense. At this age, they also love to play. At our school, we have daily STEM time for kindergarten where kids can mix learning and play through challenging, hands-on activities. I want to show my kids that although starting school may be a little overwhelming at first, that they can and will enjoy learning and be successful in our classroom!

I created a project that was recently funded for these activities and am now hoping to obtain storage containers/ways to organize my room.

My Project

These storage containers will be used to group materials for the centers and stations my students will rotate to during small group time. These will include literacy stations ( activities focusing on reading and writing), math stations (activities focusing on number sense), and fine motor skill stations in the morning (activities focusing on students building up the muscles needed to properly grasp a pencil to write). It will be wonderful to have matching storage containers that will stack easily on our shelves in the classroom and that are easy for the kids to pick up and carry to their stations.
