Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students range from Freshmen through Seniors, all with learning disabilities and dyslexia, who read at no higher than a 3rd-grade level. They require multi-modes of input to learn. They are part of a multi-sensory reading program, which is a highly structured program using many styles of learning in a self-contained setting to provide intensive supports in a small group setting.

Our school is a neighborhood school located in a high poverty and high COVID area.

Students have been attending school remotely for a full year and will soon begin in-person face-to-face classes. I want to provide them with resources that will help them get back into the routine of in-person school so they are successful throughout the year.

My Project

The supplies requested in this project (binder dividers, pencil pouches, index cards, sheet protectors, glue sticks) will all help students be organized in our multisensory reading classroom. Because the students struggle with organization skills, I want to help them organize their class supplies and notes when the school year starts. This will help them start the year right which will help them throughout the year as they are looking for their items and notes. The colorful index cards will help them make word cards and organize them by level to help them practice their words. The binder dividers and sheet protectors will keep their notes organized and neat. The pencil pouches will organize their supplies and glue sticks will allow them to keep their word sorts organized.
