My Students
I will be teaching a third grade class of 22 students. Our students vary in their abilities. The biggest challenge is meeting every student's needs. A lot of my students do not come to school with the supplies needed to learn. Our curriculum also does not provide the best materials.
My school is a Title I school.
Many students who attend are of the lower socioeconomic group. My students are of many varieties. In my class of 22 I have some gifted students and some who have a learning disability. All of the students in my classroom have the ability to learn and we push them to meet their fullest potential. This group of students has come together like no other. They truly care about each other and want others to succeed.
My Project
I would like for my classroom to be more organized and easy for students to focus. Attendance is a huge problem at my school and we are working towards improving it. If students are able to track their attendance in the classroom, it will help them to see how often everyone is at school and encourage those that aren't at school to come to school.
I run centers in my classroom on a daily basis.
It is important that students know where to go for centers and what to do at each center. Having a pocket chart will help us to become organized and have a central location for students to reference if they get confused as to where to go.
We also need pencil pouches to store our pencils. In a given day my students will go through 25 pencils. Having the pencil pouches will help them to become more responsible and have a place to keep their pencils.
