This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are an amazing group of 1st graders who all have a diagnosis of autism spectrum disorders. Many of them are English Learners, and they all have different ways of navigating the world around them. As a whole, our students desire maintaining a strict routine, a sensory equilibrium, and lots of positive reinforcement

Organization and ease in finding toys and activities is essential for the students to retrieve what they want and need throughout the day.

Our school community is strong, and we are enthusiastic about strengthening communication between families and teachers, as well as finding the best way to teach our students!

My Project

The materials and supplies that I am requesting are for organizing my classroom, to aid both staff and students in task completion. In other words, I know exactly where everything will go. We just need your help in getting everything through our door! The attendance chart will be hung next to the door, and students will "sign in" when coming into class. This will help them understand what it means when their fellow students are not in school.The pocket charts will be hung with data sheets in each pocket. As our students are having both behavior and generalization data taken throughout the day, it is essential to have a designated location for empty sheets and completed sheets. This will help them understand what it means when their fellow students are not in school. The craft keeper and writing caddy will be added to our art area, in hopes to organizer it and allow the students to retrieve what they need with ease.

The donations to this project will help to improve my students' ability to independently retrieve their wants and needs.
