My Students

I teach at the same high school from which I graduated in 2000. I have taught here since 2006 and feel directly tied to the school.

Students are adjusting to the transition to in-person schooling.

Some of them are thrilled to see their friends again, and others are adjusting to, after over a year of no cameras and microphones, people seeing and hearing them again.The result of all of these changes is a need for some things to get us back to where we were pre-COVID, combined with a desire for us to build upon the new challenges we face.

My Project

Currently, there's not much in my room in the way of organization. The cube organizer in the project will go a long way to making my room more organized and presentable. I have a hard time organizing and students have a hard time finding things.

During the pandemic, my room was under construction.

It's functional now, but overall quite bland. This project includes some decorations that will help my classroom look more welcoming. Adding personality and character to the room will help the students feel more welcome.

The Mandalorian has become an inside joke within my classes. The LEGO figures will add a personal touch and spark to my room decor. That, combined with less clutter from the shelf, will make my class more presentable and welcoming.

While students are back in person, there is lots of gray area in terms of face to face social interaction. Playing games face to face, not on screens and not in isolation, will help to build a stronger sense of sense of community within the class.
