Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Bringing the environment into the classroom is crucial to preparing the students who will live in, work in, and defend the environment. Creating 'Eco-Columns' in the classroom allows us to create a microcosm of the world around us as it incorporates a terrarium to grow fresh edible vegetables, hosts decomposers, and pollinating insects, and has an aquarium to host freshwater fish and aquatic plants.
The materials in this project are dedicated towards establishing and supporting varying plant, fish, and insect species that students will study in their semester long projects.
Students will develop' data-keeping, decision-making, and problem-solving skills in their work.
