This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My third graders attend a public school in an urban district. It is a Title I school, and 100% of the students qualify for a free or reduced-price lunch. Coming from an urban district and a Title I school, unfortunately, my students do not have as many supplies and opportunities as the surrounding districts.

This year, I have 25 inquisitive and eager students, many of whom are not on grade level, English Language Learners or LTSS students, but are always ready to learn.

My students are full of energy and their creativity shines through in all of the work that they do. They soak up everything you put out.

My goal is to make their school experience meaningful and fun while also setting high expectations and providing a safe, loving environment for all of my students no matter their circumstances. Your donations mean more than you will ever fully understand!

My Project

I would love to bring Scholastic Teachables to my students. I teach 3rd grade students with a wide variety of backgrounds that struggle in all aspects of reading. Nonfiction texts tend to be a favorite of my students, but we just don't have enough access. I believe that incorporating Scholastic Teachables would be a creative and fun way to learn nonfiction text features and learn about the world around us. The Scholastic subscriptions keep students engaged with current events and topics while aligning to the academic standards. It would provide with follow up activities, chances to read more on each subject and lesson plans to help enhance the selections.
