My school is a true melting pot of cultures, economic statuses, homes, and families. This school is considered high poverty; over 60% of our students are economically disadvantaged, and our school has now qualified for free lunch and breakfast for our students. We have over 10 different cultural backgrounds in our classroom with such diversity as Alaska Native, Samoan, Russian, and American Indian. While studying Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., my students answered the question "What do you think Dr. King would say about our classroom?" One answered, "He would say that our class is his dream come true." Which is exactly right. We are such a wonderful mix of persons.
My Project
Our district is providing a wonderful online tool called Peardeck. The students interact with Google Slides. They are able to use their Chromebook track pad to draw. They are getting better at it. A parent during parent teacher conferences recommended using Mouse Pens. She has found it so useful and her son had actually taken her pen and was using it for his classes.
Optical Mouse pens would allow my students to use PearDeck to its absolute potential.
Students can draw on Google Slides with the pen. The track pad of their Chromebooks works but it is small. The optical mouse pen would allow them to. They will be able to interact with the program that much better. While we are distance learning, Peardeck allows them and me to see their math work problems. I love it. I can see where the students are making mistakes in their math which is so very important.
My students ask to use Peardeck on a regular basis because it allows the work to become real-time interactive. I ask my students permission to share their slides and then we can all oh and ah over them.
