This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I have the pleasure of teaching a very diverse group of learners this year. We are a Title I school with a high population of English Language Learners. I teach two sections of ELA and Social Studies. My homeroom consists of 24 students. I have 17 girls and 7 boys. I have eight students who receive special ed services for varying needs.

My second section contains independent learners with more advanced critical thinking skills.

These students will need creativity and varying degrees of challenging tasks to stay engaged.

My Project

This school year I will employ gamification into my classroom practices. Research has shown that children learn a tremendous amount through play and socializing with peers. I intend to harness this research through the learning games that I am requesting. There are books with questions and then there are games with strategy and decisions. I want them to love what they are doing while learning these skills.

Students enjoy choices.

I intend to allow one of my centers to use the floor chairs as a way to sit somewhere else in the room that will be comfortable and safe. My other requests are to be used as a way to reach my learners while in small groups with me. These tools will be engaging and thought-provoking​ for my diverse groups.
