This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Imagine having a toaster but no bread. Imagine having a car but no gas. Well, imagine have a class full of inquisitive learners who learn through various modalities but having an out-of-date Thinkpad that constantly shows the "wheel of death."

My students are the reason I jump out of bed every morning.

I am one of the lucky people who enjoys going to work everyday! My students are free spirits and are sponges waiting to soak everything up. They attend school in a densely populated part of the city. All the students are 100% free meal eligible.

My Project

With the addition to the new Apple MacBook Air laptop in our classroom, students can work in small groups to research and extend their learning about the United States government. Currently, we are investigating current events daily and having discourse about global issues. The technology will bring the Constitution to life as students learn about the three branches of the government and teach each other about the checks and balances of the government. As we investigate our state, we are learning about how we can impact our community, state, and country. We would be able to project videos, interact with visuals, and share projects via Edmodo. Students will then create projects in iMovie and ComicLife to demonstrate their knowledge of the executive branch, judicial branch, and legislative branch.

My students can go so far if only given the right tools.

I want to do the best I can to inspire them with a curriculum that makes them want to take action and understand their lives and their world around them. I want them to see how the constitution, their environment and circumstances does not dictate who they are. They need to become the agent for change. This lesson/project will teach them that. We live in America and we should all be proud be to be Americans!
