Opening the Door to a Business Opportunity

Help me give my students an opportunity to work on money skills, daily living skills, and social skills while running a coffee cart for staff.

My Students

Diversity! My students are all amazing! Each student that I work with has various strengths and needs. My students tend to need to focus on skills to help them with employment and living skills.

Living in rural Nebraska we have limited resources within our community that offer opportunities to help my students with their future goals.

With limited opportunities for employment in our area, our students often struggle to find jobs.

Each child that walks into my classroom throughout the day loves learning, but for many of my students creating fun ways to learn and interact opens the door to meet their various learning needs. These students are truly incredible and I am lucky to have students that allow me to bring creativity to the classroom!

My Project

PURPOSE: The purpose of this project is to provide an entrepreneurship opportunity for the students of the Special Education Department. This cart is to meet the coffee/drink needs of our staff while utilizing various skills for the Special Education students.

The skills these students will have the opportunity to work on and gain will be: social skills, team work, communication skills, fine motor skills, money skills, daily living skills, and executive functioning skills.

These gained skills will help them in their future with employment. Many students with varying abilities will be able to be involved with this cart because of the variety of jobs needed o make this a success.

Students will:

 sort the K-cups

 fulfill orders

 deliver orders

 utilize appropriate customer service skills

 count money

 wash the materials

 create goals on how to be a successful business

This project will directly impact historically underfunded classrooms.
