My Students

I teach in a public second grade classroom in the middle of Oklahoma. My little second graders come in everyday eager to open a book and discover a new place. One of my students, love reading about animals and will eagerly tell me every detail they have just read and learned. I have another student who desires to learn about science, particularly chemistry. And I have one little girl in my class who turns her head at anything princess or pink. She is a strong girl who looks for books in my classroom library about other strong girls and women.

While some of my students struggle with reading and others fly through a book with ease, they are all eager to read more!

I am amazed to see their curiosity and enthusiasm each day. I feel honored to be their teacher.

My Project

These books and magazines will be in little hands of my current students and many future students. The variety of books selected will help them gain a better understanding of our world and the people and animals that live in our world. I hope it will create an interest to explore nature and learn how to preserve it. These students are in desperate need for books to reach their hands and minds. With many second graders still on kindergarten and first grade reading levels, I hope these books will inspire them to fall in love with reading and overcome the loss of learning from the pandemic.

Students only need a book and their imagination to go places they may only dream about.

I hope to make those dreams endless in my classroom and in their future.
