Oops! The teacher forget the main ingredients. For the children to continue safely using the donated classroom laptop we need Norton Anti-Virus. Our Micro-Soft Office trial period is set to expire, so we need to purchase this program to continue to publishing their paragraphs and stories.

I teach 2nd grade at a wonderful Title One Elementary School in Northern California.

The school population is mostly lower-middle class families who qualify for free or reduced lunch. More then fifty percent of our students are English language learners; with academic abilities ranging from Gate to special needs. Many of these children do not have any computers available at home. I would like to expose them to the many benefits available through using our laptop and exploring the educational benefits on the Internet, and educational Cd's and DVDS.

My Project

My students have been blessed with some amazing donations through Donors Choose; but I forgot some of the material necessary to fully take advantage of the laptop that was donated to our class. We have thirty days left on our Norton trial period; and I am afraid of potential viruses damaging our class laptop. If we got 3 copies of the anti-virus program the laptop would be protected for three years and would be save for the my students and future students. Having a Micro-soft Office program would allow the children to create their work taking advantage of all the elements available on this program. We have been able to use the laptop to explore the Internet, but many children could not hear the information spoken on the web page. The children are trying to get as close to the laptop as possible to hear everything. If their was a set of speakers available to attach to the laptop everyone in the class could hear and learn from the internet and the educational DVDs that we use.

The children should not suffer due to my error.

I've used Apple computers lately & forgot about the hardware necessary to fully take advantage of all the technology available on PC laptops. The children would like to continue using the laptop; but I'm afraid of the potential viruses whenever the Internet is used. The children are using Microsoft Word to type their paragraphs and create stories; and that trial period is set to expire. Help us push back the expiration dates & keep using the laptop.
