Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I teach dual language in an inclusion program to serve children with both English and Spanish. My school serves low-income, high poverty students, and 100% of our students receive free breakfast and lunch. Students are faced with several challenges both in and out of the classroom. My ultimate goal is to provide the best education and a safe learning environment for all of my students by supporting their everyday needs.
First graders love exploring and learning new things, they love using new technology, not to mention that they love reading.
Preparing our students for the future is crucial for educational success. During uncertain times like today we need to secure the future for our students. Underprivileged students deserve a great education even if it's online education during school closures.
Young minds need to be challenged, and no two students are the same. My students are all willing and ready to learn new things and enjoy sharing what they learned with family.
My Project
We live in difficult times. School closures has taken a toll on students and teachers nationwide. We can give underprivileged students the education they deserve by providing them with the tools they need to succeed. Online learning challenges are real for my students. These Chromebooks are crucial for Title I rural community students living in uncertainty. Corona-virus crisis will worsen the education gap for low-income households. Currently on our online learning we are in full swing however over half of my students are not participating due to lack of computers/technology. We are learning math, language arts, and phonemic awareness. These are all important lessons for first graders.

Ensuring the individual needs of my students are met during difficult times is my priority. These Chromebooks are desperately needed and will help my students stay on top of their studies and learning. I don't want the achievement gap to widen but without tools such as Chromebooks students will fall far behind in their learning. Please help us with Chromebooks.
