My Students

My 25 students are from a small, rural town in Southern Oregon. Many come from high poverty homes where resources are limited. Our school is 100% free breakfast and lunch. My students need access to books in their hands!

Our dreams of coming back to school were shattered recently after learning that we will be staying completely online.

These 9-10 year olds are the sweetest, kindest people who are working hard every single day online and are chomping at the bit to get back in school!

My Project

My precious 5th graders have been doing online learning since March 13, 2020. They have had zero to little access to our school or city library. Being able to choose their own book once a month to read at home will be not only exciting, but will improve their overall mental health. This is a trying time, and being able to get lost in a book is one of their greatest escapes. My goal is that they will be able to share their books by doing "book talks" online to their peers!
