One Word Wristbands

Help me give my students string, beads, and alphabet beads to create their One Word Wristband for the new school year.

My Project

To begin this school year, I am going to read my 3rd through 5th graders The Word Collector by Peter H. Reynolds. Then students are going to be introduced to the One Word Challenge in which they brainstorm and select a word that will inspire and guide them throughout the school year.

After students have selected their One Word, they are going to make a One Word Wristband.

Friendship bracelets have recently become incredibly trendy and what better way for students to display their one word by creating a friendship bracelet aka One Word Wristband. This will allow students to create a fun accessory in which they can display their word all year and keep it as a close reminder.

This project will provide students with string, beads and letter beads for creating their One Word Wristband. Instead of a wristband, students will also have the option to create a keychain if they rather create have thier word displayed on their backpack instead of their wrist.

I believe this new STEAM project will be a fun way to introduce students to a new school year while providing them with opportunities to be creative.
