I have a socioeconomically and culturally diverse classroom of 1st grade students with 100% of students receive free breakfast and lunch. Although my students face many challenges, they are very hardworking, respectful and enthusiastic learners. My school qualifies for Title 1 as over 80% of students are economically disadvantaged. My school, Converse Elementary, has been awarded the Wisconsin School of Recognition for six consecutive years and was recognized as a Wisconsin DPI Spotlight School for two consecutive years. These recognitions are awarded to schools with high poverty which achieve academic excellence.
