Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My special needs PreK students come to school daily to learn how to get along with others, as well as learning exciting, creative curriculum to prepare for kindergarten. My students arrive bright eyed and motivated to explore the lessons and activities prepared for the day. Ninety four percent of my class is nonverbal and as a class we are learning how to communicate wants and needs.
My adorable, energetic, charismatic students arrive with a strong desire to learn and explore through lessons and dramatic play.
With consistency and a strong desire to please, my students are full of energy and never cease to amaze me with how quickly they learn.
My Project
The materials that I am requesting, already have a home on all of the bookcases, which are strategically placed around the classroom. Each bookcase in the classroom holds specific materials for exploration and learning. In order for the students to be able to access the materials and manipulatives, they need to see what each container holds. The containers that are being requested are durable and clear. Having the classroom organized and having specific learning materials in clear tubs, aids the students in also learning to put away the supplies. Having a special rope to hold onto when walking in line, helps with my PreK students learning how to walk in line and not get lost on campus amongst the big kids.
The funding of this project will help my special needs students in accessing materials and ensure that safety is essential.
An essential component in a PreK classroom is to make sure that all students have equal access to materials, without guessing what is in the box. With just a glance at the bookshelf, my students will be able to go directly to the appropriate book shelf and take out what they would like to explore and learn from.
